Matt's Games

A collection of small browser games. Pick one and play.

Adventures

One player for all five: the same name, face and card album everywhere, while each game keeps its own grade and progress.

Reef Tamers

MathGrades 1–7

Catch, train and evolve sea creatures: every attack and every block is a math problem, across 14 skills from adding to fractions, graphs and algebra. The problems grow as you do, each new kind starts with a worked example, and a miss walks you through it.

🕵️

Lighthouse Detectives

ReadingGrades K–6

Every story, report and poem is a case file: answer the clues, then prove each answer by tapping the sentence that shows it. More than 600 cases on the topics you pick, with read-aloud, picture-book pages and step-by-step phonics lessons for young readers.

🏝️

Discovery Island

ScienceGrades K–8

A storm hit the island, and science fixes it: predict, test, then explain why from your own results in 53 hands-on experiments, from magnets at the Harbor to sound at the Bandstand. Seven expeditions for grades 4–8 add 45 more, from the Finch Islands to the Moon.

⌨️

Battle Stations

TypingBeginners

Touch typing at naval gunnery school: two new keys at a time, each with a short lesson, then planes to shoot down and whole stories to type in sea battles. Stars reward accuracy, not speed, and you’ll need a physical keyboard.

🚀

Starbound

SpaceMath, reading, science · Grades 2–6

Captain your own starship in a galaxy of 141 worlds, starting anywhere you like. Every shot and shield is a math problem, every signal a mystery to read and every anomaly an experiment, from the other Adventures, with your ranks and album along for the ride. Win over six Commanders, then face the Doom Star.

Quick practice

More math, one problem at a time, and a first story to read together. No player needed: open one and start.

Back up to Google Drive and sync devices

Connect a Google account, and this device saves every player’s progress to the “Matt’s Games backup” folder in its Google Drive, about once an hour and whenever this page opens. Every device connected to the same account stays in step, even when two kids play at once on two devices. Only when the same kid played on two devices since they last synced does it stop and ask you here what to do; both copies stay safe until you choose.

Put the games on a phone or tablet

Open the app once while online. After that every game works without internet, on a plane for example.

On iPhone and iPad the Home Screen app keeps its own saved progress, separate from Safari. To bring progress along, copy a backup code below in Safari, then restore it in the app.

Players: move a kid to another device

Lighthouse Detectives, Reef Tamers, Discovery Island, Battle Stations and Starbound share their players: each kid has one name, face and album, and each game keeps its own progress and grade. A player code holds one kid’s progress in all four games. Copy it, email it to yourself, and paste it below on the other device (or into “Paste a code” in any of those games). A phone can cut a long code short when it’s pasted: then save it as a file instead (to Google Drive, Files, or AirDrop) and pick that file on the other device. When the kid also plays on that device, the two are joined: everything played on either one is kept, and you see what changes before anything does.

Back up or move saved progress

Progress is saved only on this device, in this browser. A backup code holds the progress from every game. Keep a recent one somewhere safe: Safari can clear the saves of a site that hasn’t been opened for a while.
